MSDS - SAFETY DATA SHEETS Q&A

What is a Material Safety Data Sheet?
A Material Safety Data Sheet, often referred to by its acronym MSDS, is a detailed informational document prepared by the manufacturer or importer of a hazardous chemical which describes the physical and chemical properties of the product. Information included in a Material Safety Data Sheet aids in the selection of safe products, helps you understand the potential health and physical hazards of a chemical and describes how to respond effectively to exposure situations.

How do I find the MSDS of a product you sell?
This site offers you different ways to find Material Safety Data Sheets in our database. It contains thousands of Safety Data Sheets, so we offer you multiple possibilities to narrow down your search, like Country/Language, Product Name/Synonym and MSDS number. Here is how it works:

Country/Language: it will only search Safety Data Sheets written in the language selected and applicable to that particular country. This helps to speed up MSDS searches, narrowing down to a much smaller amount of documents to be explored.
Product Name/Synonym: if you know the name of a product, or its trademark name or maybe just a few characters of that, type them here. It also works with synonyms.
MSDS number: if you know the MSDS number (appears on each MSDS, on the top left corner), type it in here, and leave Product Name/Synonym blank.

Can I use the product name, if I know it?
Absolutely! If you know the exact product name, enter it in the Product Name/Synonym box and hit Submit. Default will be Begins with. You can also search selecting Contains, but it will take longer to process.

I have tried, but it took a while to find the MSDS I need? How do I speed up the process?
We recommend pre-selecting Country/Language, so the system has fewer documents to search for. Also, if you know the product name, either enter the entire name or at least the first few characters, and mark the option "Begins With". This will make it faster.

I just know a few characters of the degree of the product I'm looking for. How do I find it?
If you just know a few characters of the product name, degree or color, select the option "Contains". It is going to take longer, but it is an extremely powerful search, looking for any word that contains the characters you just entered.

I want the MSDS for DuPont KEVLAR®, how do I find it?
Type in the word kevlar in the Product name/Synonyms box and hit Submit.

I'm looking for the MSDS of DuPont ZYTEL® 408L BK507, where 408L is the product grade, and BK507 is the color code. How do I enter these options?
When searching for multiple words (product name with grade designations, for example) such as ZYTEL® 408L BK507 (Tradename/Product Grade/Color Code), we recommend to select "Contains", and simply type in the grade name as a wildcard search (*408L) and click Submit.

In my last search for the MSDS of DuPont DELRIN® 507 NC000. I just entered *507 and the system returned multiple documents. How do I know which one I need?
First, look for the tradename "DELRIN" in the hit title. Click on the document link to open one at a time. Look for exact product name in the Tradename and Synonym sections on page 1 of the MSDS.

What is MSDS Number? How can I use that field?
If you are looking for the newest revision of a particular MSDS, this is the recommended search field. Each Safety Data Sheet has a unique number, which can be found in the top left hand corner of each page, may be all numbers or may be alphanumerics of 6 to 8 characters long. In that case, enter only the MSDS number, leaving Product Name/Synonym blank.
